Hurricane Maria left a wake of devastation in the island of Puerto Rico. The basic infrastructure of the island crumbled under the pressure of massive winds and torrential rain. Immediately following the storm, 100% of the island was left without power and in the days that have followed, residents of Puerto Rico are struggling to survive with many people newly homeless and with limited access to food, water, gas and much needed medications.
As Puerto Ricans who call Gainesville home, we feel obligated to do all that is in our power to help our beloved island recover from this catastrophic event. We understand that recovery is not something that will happen overnight and that the battle is just beginning.
Join us for live music, salsa lessons, silent auction and many other surprises on Sunday, October 29. ALL of the proceeds will be donated to the PResente hurricane relief fund which is focused on strategic recovery efforts that are sustainable and that empower the residents with knowledge and tools to prevent such dire circumstances during inevitable future storms.
This is a family friendly event and we are asking for a minimum donation fo $20 during pre-sale and $25 at the door.
